Student filmmaking is alive in Piling Obrang Vidyo XX

It has been one month since UP Cinema’s flagship event Piling Obrang Vidyo (POV) had its run at the UPFI Film Center. POV, which is now in its 20th year, aims to celebrate the marvels of student filmmaking in a time when freedom of expression is suppressed. The program consisted of a Special Student Filmmakers' Forum on July 1, Screenings and Talkbacks on July 3-5, and the Awarding on July 6.

With the theme, ‘Tayo Ang Pelikula,’ POV XX brings the narrative back to the ordinary Filipino, highlighting the different stories anchoring our diverse communities. The film festival goes beyond resiliency as there is more to tell — with 'Kapwa' focusing on the concept of shared self, 'Paki-ramdam' on knowing through feeling, and 'Kagandahang-loob' on the shared inner nobility.
