Catch Japanese films for free at the 2024 Japanese Film Festival
Are you feeling the film fest fever already kicking in at the start of the year? Check out a diverse lineup of Japanese films that hit close to home for many Filipinos. For starters, films like The First Slam Dunk and two Detective Conan feature films, The Time Bombed Skyscraper and The Private Eyes' Requiem, may resonate with 90’s kids who grew up watching the anime series and reading the manga in their younger days.
Meanwhile, a sense of Pinoy pride is glistening with the screening of Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic Experience, along with the final episode of the Japanese anime series, Voltes V: The Liberation, re-edited and released by GMA Films in theaters back in 1997.
For fans of the renowned Japanese auteur Yasujirō Ozu, you can finally experience one of his greatest films, Tokyo Story, which tells the story of a post-World War II Japanese family and a portrait of children moving on with their independent lives away from their parents.
