Reimagining a better future with Espekulasyon: Active Vista Human Rights Festival 2024

To speculate is to imagine, and at the 12th Active Vista Human Rights estival (AVHRF), ‘Espekulasyon,’ artists all over the country will be providing the public with endless possibilities. This annual event is organized by Active Vista and DAKILA, institutions whose main goal is to advocate for social development and transformation through creativity. The entire 17-day duration of the festival is jam-packed with events such as musical performances, talks, workshops, and more, as their themes of hope and freedom are shared in different parts of the country.

Screening for free at the University of the Philippines Film Insitute (UPFI) Film Center, Roman Bondarchuk’s ‘The Editorial Office’ serves as the festival’s opening film, which first premiered at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, Malaysia International Film Festival, and Sarajevo Film Festival.

‘20/20’ includes a roster of various local films with the intent of highlighting parts of Philippine society that do not usually see the light of day, bringing awareness and clarity to the subjects at hand.
